If you are not from Michigan you may not recognize this pattern but if you are I hope you see that it is inspired by the beauty of the beach treasure, the Petoskey Stone. When I was young, my family would come up to the northern section of the lower peninsula of Michigan and we would spend our days on the beach looking at the beautiful stones that have washed up. These stones in particular are the remnants of a time LONG since past, when this part of the world was under sea. They are the fossilized remains of coral and if you head to the beach in the summer you will undoubtedly see many folks hunched over looking for them.
This bud vase is a beautiful addition to a modern house or cottage style decor. Whatever use you find for this small vase it is sure to liven up your space.
This piece is made of stoneware, then dipped in a white slip, drawn on and set out to dry. Once it is dry it is put in the kiln and fired to about 1900 degrees. Then it gets glazed and heads back into the kiln to about 2200 degrees.
